Join us for an intense, thought provoking and ultimately inspiring two day workshop focussing on vocal technique in performance.
Over two days you will work alongside other dedicated and professionally minded performers as you explore the way your voice works and how to use it to greater effect. Upon completion you will have explored a range of reliable techniques to take away with you and use forever.
The weekend will include:
·Individually tailored warm ups.
·Performance opportunities with feedback and advice from the expert coaches, helping you take your vocals to the next level.
·Group Singing / Close Harmony work.
·Q&A session for advice and solutions on any problem areas.
·The chance to perform for a current West End and TV professional.
With clients ranging from West End stars to Celebrity artists, vocal coaches Sadie Grist and Gemma Milburn are pooling their considerable skills to host this two day Masterclass. Both are passionate about performance on every level and love to demonstrate that with the correct techniques applied in the right way, every voice can soar.
This workshop is something we have wanted to pull together for a while. We have both seen the benefits of working in groups. Seeing techniques and methods work for other people often gives you the extra push you may need to try them for yourselves. As coaches we know that our methods work, and a weekend course like this is a great way to learn something new while having a great time with other like minded performers.
The workshop takes place in the Ministry of Fun Studios. 5 minutes from Elephant and Castle tube station we have a light and airy rehearsal space with a separate recording studio.
Sadie’s background is in theatre. She has directed extensively including in conjunction with the National Theatre and since training specifically in vocal technique she has worked regularly with international experts in their field. As well as her private tuition she teaches vocal technique at London drama school Italia Conti. She began her music career in classical singing, but also loves pop, rock, and is a bit of a secret country music fan…
Gemma's first loves are pop music and people. She coaches in celebrity circles as well as working with those who are much less experienced and gets amazing results with her tailored individual approach. Gemma has lectured at The Academy of Contemporary Music, trained internationally in vocal science, at post graduate level in vocal pedagogy, and can explain the benefits and drawbacks of every training method going! She also does yoga!
Charlie Guest is a professional actor and vocalist, and we are thrilled he has agreed to take time out of his busy schedule to come and offer us the benefits of his considerable experience during the final performances.
Individually tailored warm ups
We will make sure you leave at the end of the weekend with a recorded warm up specific to your vocal needs. Everyone is different and it’s important that the warm up you do smooths out any personal trouble spots before you begin singing.
We will ask you to prepare one song for us, in any genre you like, we love them all! You can perform this to a backing track of your choice or we can help you with this if you need us to. Gemma and Sadie will offer constructive feedback and solutions to any problems you may have. You’ll then have chance to practice before the Sunday when we’ll have another look before a final performance the following day. We are very excited that we have Charlie joining us to give you his advice and feedback on the final performances.
Group Singing / Close Harmony work
There will be a session looking at some fabulous contemporary pieces, music and lyrics will be provided, and we’ve warned the neighbours it might get loud!
Q&A session for advice and solutions on any problem areas.
We are fulling intending to cover as much as we can, however we are bound to miss something, so we have put aside some time to answer any questions or queries you may have at the end of the session.
We have a small number of one to one sessions available on the Saturday which will be offered out on a first come first serve basis.
